Registrations and Reserves

The participant registration includes:

  • Access in all Scientific Congress meetings;
  • Free entrance in all Congress areas (Technical Exposition / Posters)
  • Folder / Documentation, Badge, Certificate of Participation
  • Entrance in the Open Session Ceremony of the Congress (13th October), Work Lunches, Coffee Breaks and an optional access to the Closing Dinner (15th October) with an extra cost of 70 Euros.

Confirmations

The confirmation of the registration will only be sent after the payment of all services have been received. Also, all registration data should be clearly filled in the registration document. The registration will be on hold until the payment is received.

Guests

Entrance in the Open Session Ceremony of the Congress (13th October) and access to Closing Dinner (15th October) with extra payment in amount of 70 Euros.

Hotel Reservation

All requests for accommodation should be done through Secretariat – MTP – Organização de Eventos. By requesting a reservation, the cost of one night per room will be charged plus a reservation fee in the amount of 10€. The payment for the other nights should be done until 15th of September 2010. Reservations without payment will not be considered. Changes in reservation can only be made until 30th of September 2010. Reservation requests will be considered and processed in order of arrival to the secretariat of MTP. Reservation vouchers will not be sent. MTP will send to all participants a confirmation email after the payment has been received for all requested services (accommodation included). Any adjustment or cancelation should be reported to MTP – Organização de Eventos, respecting the dates above. MTP – Organização de Eventos will not reserve rooms after 30th of September 2010.

Receipt

The registration receipt will be send through email after the payment for all requested services. For all services and registration requests at the congress, receipts will be sent by email as well, after the Congress.

Certificates

All participants should ask for their own Certification of Participation in the kiosk at the Congress. Any forgotten certificates can be sent later by email, in a maximum period of 30 days after the congress. Afterwards, MTP will no longer be responsible for the certificates.

Adjustments

All name adjustments are free until the beginning of the Congress. After that, it will have an additional cost of €10,00.

Tours

To validate all reservations for the tours, participants have to pay them until 20th of September 2010. Tours must have, at least, 20 participants. If there aren’t enough participants, MTP – Organização de Eventos might cancel the tours.

Cancellations

Registration for the Congress Until 15th of September 2010, MTP refunds 50% of the money for all requested services. After 16th of September 2010, there’s no more reimbursement. To apply for the repayment, you must request it by writing to MTP – Events Management and explain your situation. For practical reasons, all refunds will occur after the Congress.

Hotels

Any changes or cancellations should be requested to MTP – Events Management secretariat by writing. Please don’t contact the Hotel directly. All cancellations until 15th of Augusts 2010: 100% refunds, except for the bank costs and the reservation fee of €10,00. Cancellation requested between 15th of August and 15th September 2010: refunds will be made only for the first deposit night (1 accommodation night). Cancellations after 15th of September 2010: no refunds. During the Congress, those who are not present will be considered a reservation confirmation. The payment will not be returned.

Repayments

All repayments will be made after the Congress.

Language

The official language of the Congress is English. Simultaneous translation English – Portuguese (and vice-versa) will be available at all sessions.

Airport Information

Daily direct flights to the major cities of Europe and the rest of the world arrive and depart from Lisbon International Airport, situated 7km from the city centre. Transportation from the Airport to the City centre

TAXIS

There are two taxi stands within the perimeter of the airport, one at the arrivals and the other at departures area. The fare on the taxi meter should read Euro 2.00 (daytime pick-up). Outside the city limits, city fares are charged per kilometre (km=0,45). Euro 1.60 is charged for the transportation of luggage or animals. Before taking a taxi, inquire about the fare. An initial fare of Euro 2.00 is charged for services on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays and for night-time service from 9pm to 6am. AERO BUS

Aero bus Number 91 makes the run between Lisbon Airport and the city centre where the majority of hotels are based. Service begins at 07:45 and ends at 20:15 hours. Buses depart every 20 minutes. Climate

Lisbon falls within both Atlantic and Mediterranean climatic zones. As a result, there is little variation in temperature. Skies are clear and days are usually sunny, even during winter. Average temperatures in October range from 14-22°C (57-71°F). Passport and Visas European Union citizens, along with citizens of Andorra, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland are only required to have an identity card to enter in Portugal. For stays not exceeding 90 days, national visitors from the following countries require a passport that is valid for at least three months beyond the planned stay: Argentina, Australia, Bolivia, Brazil, Brunei, Canada, Chile, South Korea, Costa Rica, Croatia, El Salvador, United States, Guatemala, Honduras, Israel, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Monaco, Nicaragua, New Zealand, Panama, Paraguay, San Marino, Singapore, Uruguay, Vatican, Venezuela and depending on the type of passport, this situation extends to the Administrative Regions of the People’s Republic of China, of Hong Kong and Macau. Citizens from States not included in the above list require a visa to enter in Portugal.

Smoking

The Portuguese law, in accordance with Regulations in force in the majority of European Countries and the USA, does not allow smoking in any public transportation or in any closed public areas (although some restaurants, bars and discos may have a designated smoking area).

Tipping

Tipping is optional, but adding 10% to the amount is regular practise in taxis, restaurants and bars.

Business Hours

Shops are generally open Monday to Friday from 9am to 1pm and from 3pm to 7pm, with some shops not closing at lunch time. On Saturdays some shops close at 1pm, although some city centre shops remain open during the afternoon. In shopping centres, longer hours are kept – usually 10am to midnight. Banks are open Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 3pm. Restaurants open for lunch between 12pm and 3pm and serve dinner between 7pm and 10pm. Some restaurants are open for a longer period. Pharmacies are open Monday to Friday from 9am to 1pm and from 3pm to 7pm and on Saturdays from 9pm to 1pm. When closed all pharmacies display a notice giving details of the nearest open pharmacy with 24 hour service. Post offices are open Monday to Friday between 9am and 6pm. The central post offices and the office in the airport are open on Saturdays.

Liability and Insurance

The organiser is not able to take any responsibility whatsoever for injury or damage involving persons and property during the Congress. Participants are advised to take out their own personal travel and health insurance for their trip.
